Naohiro Utagawa :

7Days Aru / Irukoto

1 - 7 Aug, 2016

Goya Curtain presents an open, evolving installation by photographer Naohiro Utagawa. Working with photography, objects, and materials, Utagawa explores the relationships between images, physical space, and everyday life. His practice extends to the arrangement of objects and the production of photobooks, exploring how images and materials relate to one another.

For 7 Days Aru / Irukoto, Utagawa lived and worked in the gallery from August 1–7, 2016, developing an installation in situ. The entire space became a site of production, open to the public daily from 1–7pm. Visitors could observe the work as it changed and developed throughout the week.

This exhibition was curated by Dan Abbe.

The following photographs were taken by Utagawa himself over the course of the exhibition. They later formed the basis of a photobook of the same title, self-published by Utagawa.
