Goya Curtain presents ‘godwit project’, an exhibition by Aotearoa New Zealand based artist John Ward Knox.

Every spring I anticipate the return of these little birds. They fly from the Arctic in one long journey, stopping only as they reach the river at the end of my garden where they will spend the summer dabbling. They lose 80% of their body mass during this flight, which they will replenish with worms and crustacea for their eventual return. What they have lost in weight they gain in mythos and legend. We cannot help but see our own reflection, even when gazing into a pool of difference: this is the beginning place of the godwit project.
