Soshi Matsunobe
1 Feb - 1 Mar, 2020
Goya Curtain presents a solo exhibition by Japan based artist Soshi Matsunobe.
Following the concerns of minimal and conceptual art, and with an interest in geometry and multiplication, Matsunobe’s work investigates the nature of points, lines and shadows. Influenced by the late Sol LeWitt, the cube is a repeating motif in Matsunobe’s output. The artist states that cubes are often expressed in terms of points and lines or as containers and exist somewhere between an abstract concept and an object. Taking cues from Goya Curtain’s modular architecture, Matsunobe will present several recent works that play with the virtual geometries inherent in the cube form and the tangible ghost lines of the shadow. These works will be supported by a photographic work from his ‘Ghost of Copy’ series and an installation of handmade stones.
